Pillar of Fire

Prophetic Dream

Joel Akin

I was in this church. It reminded me of this church I used to attend when living in Michigan as a child, a former tavern. Each tall window had curtains, which were open, and there were wooden pews on each side of the wooden aisle. It was night time and we could see over this huge valley, with lights from farms or small villages scattered here and there.

One of the odd things was that the pastor was pacing the church but the lights were off and no one could see anything except from the stars and few lights from outside. No one seemed to mind. Suddenly there appeared in the distance a mammoth pillar of dark clouds reaching to the ground that began to flash brilliant lightning and orange explosions of fire. It appeared to be, based on later estimates, 90 miles from the church. I ran towards the window and yelled, "Look at that..." Several of the leaders heard my cry and looked but then quickly ran and closed all the curtains in order to 'protect' the children, who were sitting towards the back.

I went to the very back of the church where there was a foyer and tried to look closer myself but it was all dark and shadowy. And next to the windows I saw a darker shadow on the floor and was afraid to approach the window lest I fall into what appeared to be a pit. Yet as long as I remained in the church I could not see what was coming for the pastor forbade it.

I snuck a peek outside the exit and saw more clearly what was slowly heading towards the church. The thought came to my mind it was the pillar of God and even more it was the judgment of God that was coming.

Interpretation: I believe this dream was partly fulfilled and God used actual people in the church to help illustrate the dream. I shared this dream with one of the leaders who I saw in this dream. They must have contacted the pastor for I received a visit at home. I got a gentle but clear rebuke when they said, "What is better. The chance to win souls or to spend ones time thinking about prophetic dreams."

It is not the only dream I have gotten about coming judgment upon the church. In fact I have received many such dreams.
