Dream Narrations

Joel Akin

Near Gwinn, Michigan

I was in this small strawberry patch with at least a dozen or more people including teens, children and at least one teacher. The patch was incredibly small for so many people. Perhaps 15 feet wide by 30-40 feet long. And I remember one young fellow pulling up the entire plant to grab a few strawberries.

Suddenly, far to the east, there was this mammoth explosion, though it was so far we did not hear any noise at first or see any flash. Just this mammoth column of smoke. It was huge. Bigger then anything I'd ever seen and continued to expand in all directions. I don't know if it was me or someone else that warned everyone to grab their neighbor and hang on for dear life. We hunkered down and I remember hanging onto a young girl. Suddenly their was this roaring noise and abruptly the trees bent in half and debris and other things flew overhead. The massive air wave stopped. The young man who had pulled up the whole strawberry plant said.

"Some explosion. But I think it was too small to be nuclear."

"I disagree" I told him, though I had no clue either what had just happened.

We got up to see a strange boiling cloud heading towards us. In just second it had covered up the blue sky and darkness fell upon the land so deep that you could not see your hand in front of your face at first. Like walking from a brilliant day outdoors into a dark house. Gradually we realized there was a light but not from the sun. Far to the east something was burning. People walked through a small grove of young trees to the edge of the field and were watching the massive glow on the horizon.

I made my way through the people yelling out dads name. Finally I found him. "You need to get going..."

"Is this the day of darkness you've been talking about?"

"What do you think? Go get ____ so we can flee..."

"But she's working...."

"Don't you think this is important enough?"

I then left the houses and areas and found myself on this old dirt road next to a lake. The sky overhead had lightened slightly to the equivalent of a predawn day. Just enough to see by. I watched both sides of the road looking for something, I didn't know what. I saw a # of boarded up homes, one with a satellite dish and a flat roof capable of holding a generator. Another with broken out windows and doors but with a stone fence around much of it. But then I realized where I was. I was near Gwinn, Michigan and suddenly I came over a slight hill and realized there were dozens of homes that had been built. The wilderness had been urbanized. I figured some of the homes were now empty but I did not know which ones and woke up frustrated as we did not have a home.
