Oil Calamity

December 26, 2004

Personal Narrations

Joel Akin

Calgary, Alberta

The Dream:

My friend Bill had gotten ahead of me and started crossing a street in a downtown city somewhere. As he crossed the crosswalk sign started flashing "Don't walk" even though the traffic was supposed to stop for him. But the traffic was ignoring the red warning light and the car that hit him seemed to come out of nowhere. It slammed on the brakes but still struck Bill a glancing blow on his leg. Though he was not seriously hurt Bill was able to limp aside so the car and driver could continue on their way still against the red lights. Traffic was flowing in all directions and somehow their were no serious collisions.

Bill was good natured about the blow and laughed it off. But there were thugs on the street who saw what had happened and decided to take advantage of him. They ganged up on him and began to beat him bloody. I watched in horror from across the street unsure of what to do. He just stared at me as they dragged him away.

I felt utterly helpless. I found a tall black man who had watched my friend Bill get beat up and I begged him to help me. He agreed. We ran down the street to the alley where there was a street bazaar. There were small businesses and crowds with people of many nationalities. I rushed down the alley looking for him but could not find him but then my new friend called on me and pointed over the fence on the corner. I looked and realized Bill was being held captive by an Arab man dressed like a Sheik with his family members sitting about him. They had given Bill Arab clothing to wear. I grabbed a metal pole with a weight metal bottom at the entrance to their yard and walked into their midst. I demanded the release of my friend Bill who was seated with his back to the fence.

The Arab family said nothing at this stage, as I helped Bill up and out the yard and to the large flatbed truck my new friend had waiting for us.

Interpretation:

I think this dream is perhaps one of the most important I have had in the area of oil simply because of its interpretation. As in any dream there are often deeper meanings that reveal themselves as time goes on.

First we must deal with my friend Bill and what he represents. He signifies the average consumer of oil and gas. Deeper then this though is that he also represents the average person on the street who helps support the market. The car that strikes him refers to the economy and it is oil that now powers the economy. When the car strikes my friend he is bruised somewhat and surprised but not seriously hurt. Like all of us we breathed a sigh of relief when the price of gas actually started coming down for once. Things look hopeful and it appears the worst is finished. The Market is back up, the oil prices are coming down, and we can get back to our normal way of life.

If we look at the price spike of oil in 2004 it fits the scenario we see in this dream exactly. The increase in oil caught everyone by surprise. The markets hit the average consumer with such quickness that no one was prepared for what happened. Very few were ready for the quickness of it and for a time it looked like it might be more serious then it first seemed. Then it was over. Though the prices have come down the consumer was spared what looked like a death blow. They rebounded quickly limping only slightly with the initial shock.

But now we reach the present time. All looks well. The market collision appears to be over and the danger with it. But the unexpected will take place and the street speculators are going to beat up the consumer big time. If the last blow seemed bad the coming blows are going to make the initial injury appear mild. The street is going to go wild and the market will deal blow after blow after blow to the average consumer until he is bruised and bloody. But its not going to stop their. Now only is this going to devastate the economy but the consumer is going to be dragged away against his will by the Oil Kingdom.

Lets get something clear here. The average consumer has been treated like dirt. Its a lot like pedestrians in most downtown areas where traffic is heavy. It is the vehicle(market and oil) which gets the priority and not the pedestrian(consumer). In the same way the Markets have treated the average person off the street like garbage. They've been able to get away with this because its the way the market operates. But this has to change.

Lets go back to the alley market. This refers to the black market and the back alley dealings which take place in the corporate and industrial world all the time. It is run by international cartels where money is the grease that keeps things running. When the consumer is taken hostage it is not going to be the street thugs nor the black market which will provide the solution.

I believe this is where God will intervene. The metal pole I picked up is often used as a barrier device separating people and preventing people from moving. I picked it up in the Arab family yard. I believe this metal pole refers to the religious creeds which divide our nations. There is a basic fundamental collision between Christianity and Islam which will escalate exponentially. This barrier device is always there yet few really bring it up as a divisional point simply because we rely on the Arab Coalition for their oil. More specifically the Arab Sheiks. It is they who control the back street for it is the west that is funding them with money.

Now the fact Bill is forced to don Arab dress is also significant that the power of the Sheiks and their authority over the markets and the consumer will lead them to force their religion on others. When people have power they tend to use it as a stick and this is, what I believe will happen. But I believe the removal of this barrier also signifies that for the first time the gospel will find an 'in your face' entrance into the Arab world. We don't like to think of the gospel as a weapon but this dream indicates it will be enough of a weapon to force the Arab families to release the oil stranglehold they have on the West but especially the Christians who will be suffering under this bondage. God will turn the tables. Expect the Arab powers to be just as Pharaoh with the children of Israel. They will realize their mistake and try to get back the people into bondage but God will set up protection and I believe this will lead to their eventual downfall on the world stage.

The black man who comes to the aid of the consumer is, in my belief, a specific African nation which God will raise up to help bring freedom(Possibly Sudan). I believe it is a nation which is connected to one of the Arab countries.(the fence could refer to the Red Sea. God often follows patterns even if the nations are different.)

So what does this really mean? The world economy is presently driven by oil which is greatly controlled by those leaders from the Arab owning countries. God is going to put an end to this and the consumer will finally find freedom from the oil prices which will keep them hostage in the future. Now how this comes about I do not know but I suspect there will be new ideas and technologies which will free us from the need for oil. Now their is more to this dream which I have not felt lead to share. Let me just say that their may be economic war, possibly real war over this issue but God will again provide a way out.

Until that time the consumer may have years of being held hostage to whatever price the Arab countries and street market chose to sell the oil. Expect this to happen and expect it to be terrible until God himself will help bring the Arab oil powers to a quick, and prayerfully, bloodless end.
