God gave me this wonderful story of a king who had a lonely son who wished to have a wife. But the king realized his son had little experience in ruling his kingdom and was lost in his own world. So
he decided that he would test his son. Why? Because if he could learn to rule the kingdom then surely he could handle a wife right? Okay, some of this is my interpretation of how God taught me. The king had two
paths which he pursed. First he sent searchers across the breadth and depth of his kingdoms searching for just the right woman. She had to be centered because he did not want this woman to be focussed on riches or
vain things. She had to be as a warrior so she could fight by the side of his son if needed. And on and on it went.
But the king realized that he had found such a woman but his son was not ready for her. For she came from a distinguished background whose people had done the king a great service in ancient times.
They were a holy people and the kings son was not ready for her.
So he allowed his son to explore the world. The king was greatly saddened when his son was approached by his greatest enemy and for a number of years seemed to sell out to many temptations and
difficulties. The king knew this would only lead to great suffering. But he did not interfere. He knew if his son were to ever rule he must learn to fight. The son grew tired of the lies he was living and chose to
back away from the enemy. But the enemy knowing this was the kings son did not stop or cease his attempts to ensnare the heart of the kings son.
When the enemy saw that he was losing the sons heart he cast him into prison and began taking away all signs of hope. The enemy plagued his mind with fear, took away much of his light, began removing
all but the most basic of things. But there in the darkness the kings son began to realize who he was. He had just a glimmer of light. But in his pride he clung to the belief that he was good enough and did not need
the help of his father beyond what he already had. How much more could there be? How much greater things could he seek? The enemy then tortured him until it seemed that he would die. And there staring into the
darkness of death the son realized he could not escape on his own. He had grown weak and ever so tired and there seemed to be no path left to success of any kind.
But the king discovered his son had been captured by the enemy and each night sent a dove with a message. Have hope son. Freedom is coming. The kings son didn't have a clue how the king got this
message through. It seemed an absolute miracle to him that his father even knew where he was. But he began to look forward to those messages and found a way to return messages to his father. Despite being in the
depths of the darkest, ugliest prison of the enemy soon the messages flew back and forth. The son developed a love for his father he had never known and he began to have faith, and hope that his father would indeed
rescue him. But then as he was there in the midst of this suffering his father sent word that he had granted his son his first ruler ship.
The son now had authority over sickness and disease. The son would have laughed for was not his body broken and sick? Was this not a joke perpetuated by the one who claimed to love him? But he had
recognized his fathers handwriting and knew his father would not joke with him. Time went on and it seemed to turmoil was more then the son could bear. But he refused to give up hope that his father would send
rescue. While in prison he dreamed of what he would like to do if he had freedom. How he would love to travel and explore the fathers kingdom but this time by his fathers side.
And he told this to his father and one day his father sent another mystery note. I grant you authority over all riches and poverty. And so this went on for months. More and more authority was granted
to him in multitude of areas. But one day there came an assassin to the cell and the kings son used some of this new authority and overcame this assassin.
His father heard about it and proclaimed "You have taken authority over the enemies lands and titles. These titles once belonged to good men but was stolen by the enemy long ago. These things now
belong to you..."
The son could not understand what his father was doing. Why was he leaving him here in prison? The son gave little thought when he was able to escape from his cell to the outer prison. There were many
strongmen who ran the place and they practiced to deceive, lie and kill those who got in the way. But the son had been being strengthened by his conversations with his father and when time came to deal with the
heads he overcame the strongest of them. After that he was given freedom of the place and ran it as he pleased. But the torture he had gone through still made him too weak to leave but he never ceased talking with
his father and never ceased asking for strength until one day he was given power to climb the fence and escape. Something which only a kings son could accomplish.
He began his journey home facing more assassination attempts, more obstacles, trials and tribulations. And somehow he overcame each obstacle with the wisdom his father taught him. Then one day he knew
he was close to home. He was weary, weak and so frail from the long arduous journey. The son did not see anything special in what he had accomplished but one night the father told him in his message. You have
overcome and achieved your inheritance and you have learned to take and use authority over all your enemies. Soon I shall bring you home and tend your wounds and let you rest. And I shall bring to you the woman you
shall marry and you shall help to rule the kingdoms which are under my authority.

The story is different in some respects but I feel inspired in its heart. God gave me this story to show my life and the purpose of authority. For only those in authority can then hope to understand
power when it is granted. Power without the wisdom that comes from growing in authority is dangerous. Authority is granted when people are willing to sit down and be taught by God. And often the king allows their
sons to be tested before letting them rule. And only those who can truly overcome can then hope to become a joint heir with Christ.
