When troubles fall-A Story for Calgary

Joel Akin

Psalms 42:1 To the chief Musician, Maschil, for the sons of Korah. As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

There are so many scriptures to encourage. And all of them are meant to help us in our hour of need. One of my favorite scriptures is the part above where it speaks of the hart panting after the water brooks. I was thinking of water as I was taking a shower. Wondering if God is going to purify the water of the earth and if so how to keep it clean. Mom buys water weekly from a company named Vivagua. It is a company that provides water which is filtered 7 times.

Now part of this is to allow God to speak. I have been with him for more than three years spiritually in daily prayer. I have asked God to help me write this because there is a war that goes on daily over my family. Part of it is because of what happened with a family member but other reasons are what God did to protect us from a series of assaults by men.

Now men of Calgary listen. I have a word for you from God.

There are few men in this city who have not known that God speaks and God is real. Few listen and few give heed. There are those I have spoken to to give and I mean give to those in need. I have watched you spend money on booze and fast living. I have watched you spend it on wealth and on house and on furniture and on appliances. I have seen you spend it faster than you earn it and I have not been pleased.

There are those who have filled their water from other cisterns. There are those who play lotto and gamble and visit hooters thinking their wives won't mind. There are those who find it difficult to concentrate for they do drugs and they spurn advice to stop. There are men who visit brothels and men who take escorts to the dance and to the hotel and to the bedroom of their own home. There are those who understand what sin is and they don't care.

Every man in Calgary has a wish and that wish is to be rich. Even those who are rich have found themselves unable to raise capital like they want. They raise it in ways that are legal through funds from banks and they raise it from investors and from legal maneuvering of finances within their own company. They do things that are dangerous and yet it seems to work out and that often amazes them.

Yet there are those in Calgary who have financed deals with Russia, China and Yugoslavia despite the fact the latter deals with slave trade. Yet they are not bothered but I say be bothered for men have to be men of conscience. There is a need for this city to repent yet there are few who want to. They lift up their leg and they shake it of dust but they do not know they shake it of lies. For there are spirits who rise up from the earth and will say of Calgary that there were those who were of greater wealth then they and yet not one man knew it. There were those who will say that man had within their grasp the greatest rich man that ever lived within their grasp and yet they did not care.

There will be those who say this is a burden to read and it does not encourage and it just points out things that are normal for any city. Yet if you will heed then God will teach. For God is not about to cast off Calgary; He is going to raise it up. It is going to become a byword of truth and love and hope. He is going to take out the dark spore and raise it up so it becomes the city of love.

The city of love is a city that has no time for evil and no time for lifting up the dust from the feet to shake it off. Calgary is a name that might mean feather or something of value; yet without God there is no hope. God isn't giving up on the city He has framed it up so that it cannot be held down with lie after lie.

Now there are those who will say that Calgary is an evil city and drugs, gangs and people with evil motives are here. They are just as in every city of the world. There are liars and murderers and people who want things to go their way. There are people who want evil and want it to succumb to their will. There are those who are of evil and they are those God will deal with. They will vanish away and most will not remember them. They will be taken down to the grave where they will live even if it takes all eternity to see them set free of their evil.

Now some say in the grave you know nothing but the opposite is true. You don't really die you just sleep. Jesus said it and he wouldn't lie. Men go to the grave and there they lie but their soul is taken and taught what is right and what is wrong. Those are facts which are necessary to understand. Some think the body is at rest forever. It isn't. It is bent on destruction or on life. If it is bent on destruction then God takes that part of the body which cannot be seen and He holds it up to the light and if it is destroyed by sin then it is cast into hell.

Now those who are of the body may ask what does this have to do with Calgary. The answer is Calgary is a city that is like the grave. There were tombs here long ago that were buried beneath the city. They are still there. They are spirits of the grave and the city is built on an ancient graveyard. It is the largest grave in the world and it is within a mile of the surface. It is the oldest graveyard on earth and it is the oldest grave in the universe. It is a grave that was built up layer upon layer upon layer of men and their body.

There is a reason God allowed men to build here that had nothing to do with convergence of Bow and Elbow or any other river. He is the Bow and there is an Elbow which is also of God. In a way there is a part of God beneath the city and that is part of the story of how God brought men to earth from Eden. It was within a few miles of the city towards Red Deer. And it was towards Red Deer near the city itself that God wrote a decree that no one should live there because it was barren.

He changed that decree when men moved to Canada and they built a train across the prairie in 1888. It was a beautiful line and a beautiful dream and Calgary became part of it. Yet like all dreams Calgary has ceased to care. There are those who would disagree but only if they heard the story which God is going to share. For God is going to show Calgary before it was rich and prosperous. He is going to show men the history of this city and it will be shown to the entire world. And it will be a story of truth and sadness and despair. For there were not a lot of people back then who really wanted to be here. They wanted to die. Many did and they were carried into the depth of the soil and into the grave and they were horrified to learn that there were people who had once lived beneath the city. Not underground but above ground. For those people had died in a great cataclysm more than 30,000 years ago.

To us we mutter either interesting or so what. The problem is that when you build upon the grave of those who came before they become restless in their sleep. God never wanted this city built because underneath the city were the people of death.

Now people of death were real and they lived and they built homes and they didn't know that death was a curse word that would be built up upon ages of pain. None of them cared what the future held they only cared that they had a home. It was a land covered in sea and there were islands by the dozen and many of the hills which cover Calgary were part of an island chain called the Bearpaw Sea. The Bearpaw Sea was real and geologists speak of it. The only thing is it had a different name. It doesn't matter what it was called. The most important thing is this. That men lived here and they talked and they loved and they breathed air that was good and sweet. They loved and they cared and they had friends and daughters and sons. And they had family spread across the land and it was part of the dream that someday they would join with the Royal part of the nation. But it was too far away and on the other side of the earth.

So God said "Someday I will raise up a people who will care" and He was speaking of us. A people who cared and a people who wanted to help. We were the dream God had for the nation and for the people of Lamuria. Lamuria or La Mur was not the word we use for monkey lemur or femur or anything like that. It was part of the earth and the earth was the Lords and all that was here belonged to Him. He cared for those who were of earth even if it had a different name. It was La Mur and it was part of His home and He lived in various places including the soil from which Calgary was built. It was carried by the hill of ice which rode across the prairie and carried soil from a place in Michigan which was scoured down to the bedrock. The soil from Calgary is built upon the land of Upper Michigan and land in between.

It is land which is precious and land which is deep. Even if you took away half the soil you would have enough to last for all time. It is soil which is deep and it really does go down for at least a mile before hitting rock we'll call permanent. And it is there at the bottom where there used to be a city. A small one but still a city. Perhaps 40,000 people. And it was there where there lived a man called Deth. And it was there where there lived a people called Deth's people for they loved him.

Now Deth lived there and he died there and he carried his own soul to God and said "I have tried to live faithfully for you all my life. I wish to be raised up to work with you in your home." And that was part of Eden.

There is more to the story and more that could be said but God had a problem and that was Deth carried the curse of sin and sin was the real spirit of death. He was an angel and as angels go he was a spirit that had risen up on a dream God had to repopulate earth and to help make it fruitful. Deth was a problem for God because that spirit of death was in his soul. Now it might be coincidence that Deth had death in the form of sin but sin was a spirit and that spirit was evil. And so God said "Deth, take your soul to hell and cleanse it there for the time it takes to be free." And so the richest man in all the known world went willingly to hell and there he sold his soul to Satan not know what he was doing.

Now you have to understand this was part of Gods wish, that is that Satan be set free of sin. The problem with Satan is he wanted sin once he had it and so did most people who touched sin. It was a fun loving spirit and it didn't care that it carried sickness and disease to everyone he touched. He just touched them and they got sick because he carried disease like you carry dust. It was everywhere and sin was all over as well.

Needless to say Deth went to hell and eventually made it to Paradise when Jesus came through to help. He went to hell and while there came to the rich man. Now the rich man was actually Time and the scripture says he is time. Time will be no more. Time was the richer brother of Deth and he was the most vile of the two brothers. Now the rich man of Luke was a parable but there really was a rich man who had a brother named Deth. And he was fed crumbs by the one we will call Rich. For Rich was the king of La Mur and as such he owned all the land in all the world but the very crumb which Deth owned. And he wanted that crumb.

Now Deth waited for Rich to give him more land so he could build up his dream of an empire. He wanted the land to become part of a Royal Na and that meant nation. The problem was that Rich hated his brother and wanted him dead. So he went back to a place we call the house of God. And there he set a trap with his brother to send him to hell. It was called sin. And God knew it was a trap for Deth but didn't have any way to stop it for Rich did it by going back in time and setting the trap when God wasn't there.

God really is everywhere but think of it this way. You create a duplicate and you then go and try to fool God by saying "I am you" and so God says "No you are not" but then he goes and says "I am me" and God says "So you are" and so it goes until Rich finds out where God is. For he did something we'll call echo location. Sounds weird but it worked because God can be everything but he can't conceive everything. At least not until its been conceived. Not that God is dumb but God is real. And if that makes sense then keep it that way for now.

Now when Deth went to hell he asked God to protect his people who were of Calgary and region. So God set a pace to watch over them day and night. He knew Deth's brother was possessed by sin and by an evil spirit called darkness and it was this spirit which threatened to unmask anyone who helped God. This meant they feared God but had power on earth. So God set his heart to the small town next to the city of Deth and there they watched and waited for something to happen.

It was there in what we would call Langdon that God heard Deth cry out "God help me" and he went down to the grave and found someone had taken Deth and cut him up into pieces. That meant his soul and not his body. The soul was the precious part of Deth.

So God tried to restore Deth without success and He became so angry He swore that He would find a way to restore Deth to his true name and to his true heritage. And that was to restore him to the land of Alberta.

So there were those who surrounded Deth who gave up because this happened a long time ago. Deth died and was never the same after that. God set a course to find out how to restore him to life and he had to tweak, if you will, the life essence of Deth for he wasn't quite as men are. He was of a tree. And the tree was real and the tree was named Deth. And there really is a spirit that wrote of him; or at least his race. His name was Tolkien who wrote Lord of the Rings.

Now this isn't imaginative or meant to be. It is part of Calgary and its future history. For Deth had a vision of this city and saw its massive towers and was like an excited child. He cried out "God, let it be true. Let there be a future like that in the city of my home." For Deth said it and dreamed it and wanted it so much that God set a course towards that future and found it and discovered that it was a rare world. For as strange as this sounds there were no other places like it. Why? Because it was covered in prayer.

There were men who had prayed for Calgary for years and they were sent by God to harrow the land. And that meant to till the word and harrow it until it became fertile. It took years and years and years and years and not one person in all of Calgary knew or cared. They waited with oil and with reserve for someone to help the city. And they came and they were rejected by those of this city. So much so that the city tried to crush them into the earth. And into the grave. And it wasn't just the men of this city that did it but the people whom Deth loved. The people who had once loved him. The people of the grave. For they rose up to crush these men and they strove with them night and day waiting for them to die so they could be brought low and brought down to the grave.

And there in the grave they would be processed through and have sin put into them by force. For there were no people left on earth capable of resisting.

Yet it was there in that city God raised up a new way of life. And He said "I will help those who are of sin." And He promised Deth I will send my son. Yet I know the grave will capture him and force sin into him." And the grave did and Jesus bore the sin of men of the grave up to heaven where he suffered torment and no one of earth saw and no one cared or asked to his welfare. And so it came that God made a friend and he came to Calgary and he strove with the men of the grave. And they were of Calgary for the grave had risen and the grave had stolen the men of the city so they were living a false life. All of them were under the influence of sin and all of them from the man in the robe to the man in the street to the man in the capital were under sins influence. And they fell into sin and they could not be set free. And Jesus bore it and bore it until it seemed he would scream. And he cried out day and night to men "Wake up, for you are not awake you are sleeping." And they did not hear and they did not see and they could not understand.

For all men of all earth had fallen to sin and all men had turned away from God. And even the leaders of the faith fell into sin and none of them knew it. For none of them knew what sin was and none of them knew what had happened to men and none of them knew how to reach them except by building up ministry and calling it help.

Yet of all earth and of all nations that tried to pray there were two people who learned the secret of prayer. Only two and that may sound cruel but its true. One was Christ and the other was a man who wishes to be anonymous until the day of the Lord. And it is he who discovered that this story was true and sin was real for he had to battle the spirit which we call the Angel of Death. It wasn't Christ Jesus but he was friends with him. It wasn't a man you would want to share your bread with unless you were willing to share his pain. For he could not stomach you nor talk with you nor have anything to do with you. For you carried your sin to him and he carried it to heaven. Day by day and week by week until two years had passed. And then one day God said "Enough." For there were no people left on earth. None who mattered. They were all set free of sin.

And so God helped me write this story and told me to tell them the truth. That I was that man and I didn't fight just sin but I fought the Angel of Death and his name was Sin. And I bore it up to Christ Jesus and he came to support me during the worst years of my life. I had one outlet and that wasn't food. It was God. And God supported me and encouraged me to write. And I did and I did until I have a couple books worth coming out.

And if this story is done then what does this mean for Calgary? What does it mean? It means that God is going to close the chapter on one place that never should have arisen. The grave. It was part of Calgary and part of her history. It was part of the city which God will restore and it is part of the story which God will tell. And He, who is God, will take that which is broken and will heal it. He will take those who did the most wrong and He will teach them by experience. It will be tough but not as tough as they gave out. It will be a learning experience for all men to treat men with respect. For some have entertained angels unaware. For though you think and though you see and though you feel don't forget to care for those who are around you. For they are hurt and lying in the gutter and lying in the vile and the filth. And not all live in poor alleys and in shabby housing. Some of the most evil lie there as well. It is just that God needs people to be healed and so it is His wish that this city become a city of hope. And a city that will restore the White Hat to all visitors. Because someday God might come and the White Hat of Calgary is one He would like to own. He doesn't need a 100 of them He wants just one from the mayor of the city. In a ceremony He will set up in the future when the tree of life is restored and God brings Him up to Heaven to see all the glory that is there. This is for the mayor of this city and it is for those who want Calgary restored.

Don't be afraid of image. There are millions of people who are and they live in fear. Instead remember this that God set up Calgary to become a center for the world. A center to which He will share with the Mayor when he visits the city of Zion which is yet to come down from Heaven.

So remember this and have hope. For in this city God will raise up a new standard. A standard based on love. A standard based on a flag called Alberta. It will be the only part of this country which will have a Royal Na status. No other country in all the world will have that distinction. For God will restore Calgary in a way that is pleasing to Him. He will heal the city and heal the people and He will cast out the vice and those who need it can go to a neighbors house named hell. For hell will be restored to the place it should be and it will be kept at the lowest bowels of the atmosphere where no one will go in or out without the highest authority.

And to those who wonder why think of this; Calgary is a city that is built on a hill. A city that is part of the first hill from which Deth was carried. He went to the grave and he died there. His people fell and they were crushed by Sin and Sin took them and broke them down into tiny bits so they had no one to care for their heart. They died never having known the love of Jesus or the care for which this city was named. It is a prophetic name and God chose it with care. For Calgary is of God and it is meant to mean feather in the cap. It is meant to refer to a city where the hat was white and pure. It is meant to refer to a nation which was built as a light to the people. For Alberta will remain under the jurisdiction of the Most High. He will set it apart from all other places. Even Israel will be different in the way God treats them. They are His people but so is Alberta. It will remain His people just as the US and Israel are His. No one will come near them and no one will harm them. They are to remain under His care for all time and all eternity.
