The listening economy
January 29, 2008
Joel Akin
If the world is on edge who is the word the world is listening to? For if the world is the sword who is the Word?
We know the world is the edifice of cash. If the cash runs down the people look for an answer. They go to a politician and he says "I'll
give you what you want" and that is what they want to hear. The world is filled with people who sound wise but have no tongue. Their tongues instead are vi and per and filled with venom. They hold the tongue of spit
and varnish.
The world we live in is dying. It is not the soul or the sol but the sun of heart. Our heart is gone and we have seen it die. People are not
trying to live but die. It is the sin of life which is in man. We put our effort into things which do not matter. We put our heart into soul and into lie and live without hope.
God didn't forsake us. He hasn't turned away. We have been in war with sin. He is a bad guy. He doesn't care about you. He only wants to hurt and
that hurting is aimed at you.
Life is dying. It is dying but not in the life of God. God has hope and it is the hope of life. It is the hope of things seen and the hope of
dreams still to come.
I have seen it here in Calgary. Hope dies on the vine. The wine is perishing. The oil is depleted. The soul of man is without light. He is dying
without a heart. It is in the name of Calgary for Calgary is of the grave. It is the soul of man and the soul of those who have no hope. It is the life of those who have no way out. People die and give up all
because the way to life is trampled. It is broken. It is shattered.
People don't see it but it is everywhere around us. I see it in the donut. People in Calgary are told they are fat. They go out and try to take
out the trans fat but the soul of the food is in taste. God made things so they would have life. It is the fat which God reserved. He carried it to the sea and to the altar so the altar would represent that which
changes it to taste.
We in this age call it sin. We say "It is fat" and so fat becomes the curse of sin. It is sin who does put curses on man but it is not the fat
which is changed at the altar which is the curse on man. God saw fat would become a sin to man. He cared enough to take the sin of man and put it on the altar. He saw altar and alter would become synonymous to life.
For in the syn of it we in this age call it synthetic. Thetic is the word of love and the word of dream. It is the care of word and the play of it.
People need to know so they can change. It isn't sin to write on it or try to get people to see. Even this can make a difference if people will
only understand.
Life in Calgary will go on. It will change again. People will call out for change. People will say "It is enough" and they will mean it. They
will taste the food and say "Why do you poison us?" For the point of taste is the altar of life. God made the law so it would change the fat. He saw the fat would be reserved and that is the point of this whole
story. For God saw me in the future. He saw I did not have an answer. He saw I cried out "God, why do they destroy the taste?" And in that he saw they put food as a curse. He saw I was perplexed. He saw I could not
find anyone to listen.
So here I write what I will call my episode of life in Calgary. It is the grave. In the grave they threw down the will of man. In the will of man
it spread out like the heart without a life. It was in Calgary that I saw there were none who cared. It was in Calgary I cried out "God, why?" It was in Calgary I saw the name Gary. In Sponge Bob he was the snail he
had no voice. He was not looking for an abundance of food so much as he was seeking love. If he could sponge for love then bob was the source of pain. Bob was the heartless part of the bubble boy on a stick. Bob
wasn't the part of Sponge we loved. It was in the heart of the pineapple and the heart of a man who looked to the sky and saw starfish. It was in the parents of his neighbor who couldn't tell them he wasn't their
son. It was in the Gary name which means spear.
Perhaps it is why I see Britney Spears as being the economy of the heart. She is the heart of a city but not the world we live in. She is broken
by Sin in the battle for the life of hope. She is the call of a world to be seen. She carries the world with her and they laugh and mock. She is the call of love for help and those who help say "Yes, no problem" and
they prescribe her drugs and council her falsely. She doesn't need drugs she needs people to heal her hell on earth. She is the point of the Spear and the point of hurt. She is the call of people to the sea who need
help. She is the point of life for those who have no one. She is the call of hope to a world who needs someone to see.
All of us are the help of life. It is the help we give and the help we prepare which gives help. It is the sea and the hell of life without it
that would be the dream of men in that distant time. They come to me or you and say "Who is there in the world to see?" and in that moment we can say there is no one but God. God is the one who sees. God knows the
point of the heart. God.
